PROMT appeared at TAUS User Conference 2011

The PROMT company took part in the annual TAUS conference (Translation Automaton User Society), hold on October 6-7, 2011 in California. AT this meeting topical issues are traditionally discussed: problems of translation automation, innovative technologies in the localization sphere, and also issues of cooperation between machine translation providers, translation agencies, localization agencies and corporate clients. The program committee of the conference includes representatives of such companies as Oracle, Intel, Symantec, Adobe, Microsoft, McAfee and others, and among participants of this year there were experts of Cisco, Caterpillar, Dell, eBay, Lionbridge, MultiCorpora and Siemens.

PROMT participated in a joint presentation with PayPal, the largest system of electronic payments, Safaba Translation Solutions, the provider of machine translation solutions and the international localization company Welocalize. The representative of PROMT told about involvement of the company in the project of implementation of machine translation solution at PayPal. PayPal operates in the markets of many countries, and it is of essential importance for the company to be able to provide fast translation into national languages of a content of different type, including user interfaces, online help, frequently asked questions, error messages, standard letters of support desk, user guide and e-mails.

Within the joint project PROMT has created a unique integration machine translation platform for the localization purposes. Now this platform supports 10 translation directions, allows integrating machine translation solutions of third-party developers and it is completely integrated into the localization process based on Translation Memory solution WorldServer (Idiom). It provides saving of metadata and other format information which software texts are traditionally rich with. This decision is based on PROMT Translation Server – a server solution of PROMT with wide opportunities for integration into client’s document flow.

"We are all living in the Internet era when people can work together over one project for years and never meet," Julia Epifantseva, the head of PROMT Business Development Department tells. "And the TAUS conferences give us such opportunity. Developers and providers of machine translation solutions can personally see the colleagues and clients at last, to get acquainted with projects of other companies and to hear about problems and essential aims of the localization, arising in different companies. It helps us to move forward."
