PROMT® Translation Server (PTS) 8.5 is an intranet-based machine translation solution designed to provide effective automated translation of multilingual information and document flows in different formats on Windows-based corporate intranets.
PTS 8.5 offers an extremely easy-to-use web interface optimized for most popular browsers and does not require installation of special client software. End users can use any web browser (Microsoft® Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Netscape, or Opera) to perform instant high-quality translations.
The system is ready for use as soon as it has been installed, and can be accessed by any user with the appropriate rights and privileges. HTTP protocol allows data exchange between clients and the translation server and provides access to the system both from within the intranet and from remote offices.
PTS 8.5 offers a full range of translation functions required to perform efficient translations company-wide.
A translation request is sent from a client to a server running PROMT® Translation Server 8.5 and, depending on the load, the request is either forwarded for translation or placed in a queue. All processing is performed automatically on the same physical server, which operates independently without human intervention. The data exchange between the clients and the translation server uses HTTP protocol for intranet compatibility and to provide access to the system both from within the local network and from remote offices and trusted partners.
Any web browser (Microsoft® Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Netscape, or Opera) can be used for the client application on the user's workstation; no additional software is required. The system is ready for use as soon as it has been installed, and can be accessed by any user with the appropriate rights and privileges. A number of plug-ins for Windows® applications are included with the system, enabling users to translate text right inside their preferred applications such as Microsoft Word.
